Football is one of the most popular sports in the world today. Most adults say that they played football more than any other sports when they were young. One cannot talk about the intrigues of the English premier league without mentioning Chelsea FC. Chelsea is a club whose advent to the world of champions started not too long ago. In less than two decades, the club has done more than what most other English clubs have not done since their history. For example, they have won the champions league once and numerous FA and premier league trophies. Apart from football fixtures, what is usually said about them includes transfers and the sacking and replacement of coaches. The current manager of the team just took over from Antonio Conte although he won the premier league and FA Cup in his two years as the manager.
Manchester City's progress in the last couple of years has been outstanding. They have succeeded in maintaining the top-four position for several seasons now and representing England in the Champions League. Manchester City is like Chelsea in sacking and replacing coaches. They have done that severally until the appointment of Guardiola whose appointment may last much longer following his success. Guardiola's pedigree is decent; he has headed the almighty Barcelona in the recent past.
Manchester United has not known better days since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson who retired for health reasons. Since then, it has been from one story to another and one sacking/replacement to another. Jose Mourinho was the last appointed coach of the club. His appointment was welcomed by many of the club's fans but his stay in the club today is not very sure despite his recent wins and comebacks.
Tottenham Hotspur is not a team to ignore although the history of the club is not as rich as the others. They were the first team to end Chelsea's unbeaten run in the 2018/2019 Premiership season and they have beaten tough teams in the Champions League. They are headed by an experienced coach, Pochettino. They are currently third on the table.
Everybody is glad to see Liverpool perform the way they used to when they were favorites for the champions league and premier league. Those were the days when Fernando Torres, Stephen Gerrard and a host of others made the club great. Benitez was their coach then but now, Jurgen Klopp seems to be doing so well too.
Arsenal, popularly known as the gunners, also plays good football. They were under the rule of Arsene Wenger for so long and it is doubtless that he is responsible for raising several great players today. Arsenal's participation in the European competitions is recurrent. They feature even up to the finals of some competitions.
There are many other clubs in the English premier league that make the headlines on the sports newspapers. But these are the ones most people love to watch. It is for these ones that people often buy tickets or get a cable in order to watch live matches.
