By overcoming a phobia and conquering a new skill, a sense of pride and personal accomplishment is built.
From a cognitive perspective, the rate of retention in learner is higher when movement is included in the learning process. This ability to learn using movement can be transferred to the classroom to increase focus and concentration. In essence, gymnasts have better understating rates than people who do not do gymnastic routines.
